Claude Monet - Diversity in Water Lilies

French impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926)

French impressionist Claude Oscar Monet (1840-1926) was another artist who painted water lilies, in a variety of sizes and colors. He was an artist who dared to be different, dared to introduce new elements into his work, and was one of the founding artists of the impressionist movement. His Water Lilies series, a collection of approx. 250 paintings, was created en plein-aire, from the gardens on his property in Giverny, upper Normandy, France. Many of these large, colorful paintings are now displayed at various museums and art institutes around the world.
